Objectives
In response to the needs of the Criminal Brigade of the Judicial Police of Paris, our experts voluntarily reconstructed an interior and exterior map of the cathedral to assess the post-fire situation.
Less than a week after the fire on April 15, 2019, our team urgently mobilized to support public authorities in their assessments and site security, where humans couldn’t venture due to the cathedral’s unstable condition.

ACHIEVEMENTS
Mapping and 3D reconstruction of the entire cathedral through panoramic surveys and georeferenced images. Under challenging conditions (suspended particles, shadows, air currents caused by the vault’s perforation), over 20 experts were mobilized to establish a robust logistical chain within the shortest timeframe in order to:
- Ensure the performance of the used drones (Phantom 4 Pro RTK)
- Store and safeguard data
- Pre-filter and preprocess data
BENEFITS
The data produced during this exceptional operation enabled the creation of hundreds of 360° panoramas, providing views that were otherwise inaccessible due to the threat of vault collapse. The data includes orthophotos and a digital model of debris elevation. Subsequently, this data was processed and integrated into GIS systems for optimal visualization by all stakeholders.
