VIRTUAL REALITY
IMMERSION IN MOCK
FACILITIES

Objectives

In order to reduce the carbon footprint of the project and its economic impact on the client, our teams have devised an intelligent solution to bypass the conventional construction of full-scale mock facilities, typically employed in various healthcare facility projects.

ACHIEVEMENTS

Our teams have created six virtual reality mock facilities and offered an immersive experience within: an operating room, an intensive care unit, a maternity room, a delivery room, a post-acute care room, an emergency booth.

This accomplishment required BIM modeling in Revit with a high level of detail and the utilization of a 3D visualization tool such as Lumion, to achieve the most realistic high-definition rendering.

The visualization of the facilities is facilitated through Oculus 3D glasses. Prior to this, the creation and compilation of object libraries (terminals, materials, biomedical equipment) were necessary, along with establishing contact with equipment suppliers.

BENEFITS

While being cost-effective for the client and resource-efficient, this solution allows for maximum collaboration among various stakeholders involved in the design and construction of a healthcare facility (users, contractors, and project management participants).

Accessible remotely, these digital mock facilities help minimize on-site visits and could also be utilized for remote training of healthcare personnel.
